Things You May Not Know About Men
I ran across this video on Facebook the other day as I was mindlessly swiping up. At first, I assumed it was the normal video on how bad men are and how women are far superior. But I was surprised to see that it makes sense.Â
AverageJoe’s comments are in red.
- How they can spend an entire day with a person and not learn a single thing about them.  *** Men are simple, but we are hearing and processing what you are saying, we just have a difficult time separating the wheat from the chaff. Women tend to use way too many words to articulate something simple.
- How rarely they get complimented. *** This is true, but mostly because men do not compliment other men and we are not seeking compliments. However, complementing us is very much appreciated.
- Morning Wood. *** This is 100% out of our control and most of the time we are not even aware. It has zero to do with anything sexual. It is more like a systems test, than something sexual.
- Just how long they are willing to put off going to a doctor or specialist, the mental gymnastics done to avoid seeking professional help is astounding. *** Men avoid doctors for several reasons, one is that we hate being told that we are broken, but more importantly, we are treated so differently at a doctor’s office than a female is. We are almost looked down upon. I once went for testicle pain that I had been experiencing for over a month. The female doctor felt my upper thigh through my jeans and said that she didn’t feel anything abnormal.
- When they need to go to the store, they just go straight to that item and then pay and leave. *** For women, shopping is a sport, they usually like it. For men, it is nothing more than to purchase the necessary items on the list and be done with it.
- You know how kids use their feet and hands to run up the stairs like a little monkey or dog, yeah, a lot of men never outgrow that. *** And there isn’t anything wrong with it either.
- That they just shake dry after peeing. *** And your point is what exactly?
- When I ask what are you thinking about and he says nothing, he actually means nothing. *** Most men are capable of just sitting there and think of nothing.
- Not being able to find things in the fridge that is right there, while being extremely confident it is not there. *** There are studies done on this and for some reason, somehow, men will have a blind spot for that item. It’s like the toilet seat, just deal with it.
- Do not talk to a man while he is playing video games, if your hope is to get him to respond thoughtfully. *** Women love to interrupt a gaming session or men watching sports on TV. Can’t you just leave us alone for a bit? You like to read, knit, sew or whatever and we let you be.
- They can be really insure. *** We are, but do you wonder why? We don’t receive compliments, society requires men to either be Alpha or Beta, there is no, just be you category.
- My grandmother once told me that the biggest difference between men and boys was the price of their toys. *** And your point is. Your toys are usually pricey as well, you know, horses, fancy cars, and so on.
- They will buy something they need even if it is ridiculously overpriced, just so they don’t have to go to a second store. *** See #5, we hate shopping.
- They could literally eat the same thing every day forever and not get tired of it. *** For most of us, food is a requirement to stay alive and not much more. We do have our favorites though.
- Guys can sleep in any angle and anywhere. *** That is something I learned while I was in the Corps. But yeah, we can often sleep anywhere, including the 1/5 slice of the bed we get.
- They keep a significant amount of thoughts to themselves. *** Men usually don’t share like this with other men, and the women in our lives often do not want to hear what we have to say, so we keep it to ourselves.Â

Welcome to the Average Joe Weekly blog. This is basically my place on the web where I can help spread some of the knowledge that I have accumulated over the years. I served 10+ years in the Marine Corps on Active Duty, but that was some 25 years ago.
