Unsafe, Dangerous and Lazy People

I give up, how hard is it to actually clean the snow off your vehicle in the winter? I mean come on, it is only snow. I know, “it’s cold out”, “the snow is cold”, and “I can see good enough” are very common excuses for not bothering to clear the snow completely off the windows of your car. I am not even asking you to clean off the hood, roof, and trunk, which when done will make it much easier for you to see. I am simply complaining about cleaning more than the 12” circle in the middle of your windshield. We have all seen that person and some of you reading this are probably guilty of actually doing it.

I’ve driven past a moron this past winter who had nothing cleared on the car except for a small section about 9 inches in diameter on the front windshield. Then he had his side window down with his head sticking out so he could see. So, let me get this straight, you cannot be bothered to clean the windshield, which when in a hurry could probably be accomplished in under a minute, but you have no issue with driving down the road when it is 20-something degrees out with your darn head hanging out the window and eating all that great tasting road spray, yum. Now, this does not make any sense to me, and sounds like this clown will soon be the next recipient of a Darwin Award.

If you do not know what the Darwin Awards are, they recognize individuals who have supposedly contributed to human evolution by selecting themselves out of the gene pool by dying or becoming sterilized via their own actions. They have some great stories about some recipients.

I also liked to see the clowns that will clear off the windshield but nothing else. Then they will drive down the road trying to see out the windshield as the snow on the hood blows back up onto the windshield. Then he stopped quickly at a stoplight and all the snow from the roof, quickly slide down onto the windshield he tried to knock it off with the wipers. Now that was pretty fun to watch. He ended up getting out of his car, stopping traffic at the light, which turned green by them, and cleaning the snow off with his arm, while the rest of us chuckle.

Then there are the SUV, truck, and minivan owners that don’t clean the roof of their vehicle off, so it flies off in huge sheets as they drive down the interstate, causing the cars behind them to swerve or slam on their brakes.

Writing this caused a light to go off inside my head suddenly, that the problem is the ice and snow scraper. I bet that these people do not own one of those super expensive snow and ice-removing devices. Therefore, if they do not own one, then they simply do without and forego the entire ritual of cleaning off the car. Yeah, that must be the reason. Hello, they cost less than a six-pack of beer or a pack of cigarettes.

Greetings Earth People, I'm Mia and Joe is allowing me to post on his blog as a guest blogger, I sure hope he knows what he is in for. I wanted to post about some of my pet peeves and he told me that he already has a guest blogger for that section, so I'm going to post about etiquette. Now this isn't some stuffy how-to have a dinner party BS with a half dozen different forks, this is more along the lines of don't be an asshat type of etiquette. The dictionary describes etiquette as "the customary code of polite behavior in society or among members of a particular profession or group.". I define it as, don't be that asshat that everyone hates.
