Artificial Intelligence (AI) Can Be Dangerous

Artificial Intelligence, or AI, can be dangerous. I’m not talking about Sarah, John Connor, and Kyle Reese from the Terminator movie franchise. I’m not even talking about Cyberdyne Systems and Skynet. I’m talking about AI today as we know it. Skynet became self-aware at 2:14 a.m. EDT on August 29, 1997, but in 2024, Google’s AI can’t even manage to pull the correct information from its own sources.

I was trying to identify a pill that I suspected was a leftover Penicillin pill from my last antibiotic adventure. When I want to ID a pill, I go to Dr. Google and type in the identifiers on the pill. In this case, it is an oval pill with “E” on one side and “8” and “5” on the other side.

I was shocked when Google AI, came back with it being fluoxetine hydrochloride. Well, hell, Fluoxetine is Prozac, and I have never been on that medication, so how in the hell did I have one at my work desk? But underneath that is Drugs.com, which is telling me that it is “Penicillin V Potassium 500 mg,” which is more like it.

In Google AI’s defense, it states that the pill could possibly be Penicillin, but that is later in the description. If you are using AI for your search results, pay attention

I was able to successfully look up the rest of the medications that I take and received correct results.

Penicillin
