MrBeast Charity Attempt Turns into a Nightmare

On Saturday, October 22, 2022, MrBeast (24-year-old American YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson) tried to help the community in Greenville, North Carolina, by offering to pay for groceries at the local Piggly Wiggly. What MrBeast didn’t count on was a store employee (apparently a  cashier) spreading the word far and wide. This resulted in hundreds of residents showing up, and stuffing carts and trash bags with as much food as they could get, in the hopes that MrBeast would buy the groceries for them. In the end MrBeast had to cancel the visit to this grocery store for security reasons.

Shame on the grocery store employees and management for spreading the word, and shame on the residents of Greenville, NC, who “flash mobbed” the store, asking as if they have never seen food a day in their life.  I actually feel bad for those that could have been on the receiving end of MrBeast’s generosity.

Let’s get this straight; the people who were at the Greenville Piggly Wiggly were not there to meet MrBeast. No, they were there looking for a free handout. MrBeast has been known to purchase entire shopping cart loads of food for random people. The end result was chaos and a very trashed supermarket.

MrBeast who is actually Jimmy Donaldson a YouTuber from Greenville, North Carolina operates a nonprofit organization called Beast Philanthropy. MrBeast is known to surprise people with his generosity. MrBeast is in the top 10 most popular YouTube channels, with over 100 million subscribers.

Sadly as the internet does, it is full of people who are mad at MrBeast for not showing and for causing this chaos. MrBeast is NOT in the wrong here, those that decided to spread the word, just so they could get a few more likes on their pages, are the ones at fault here. It is really sad to see how these people reacted to the possibility of free groceries. They acted like animals and I’m sure if you looked at the parking lot, during all this, you would see some very nice cars parked. Most of these people were not “in need” they were just taking advantage of MrBeasts, generosity.

Thank you to all those that volunteered to help the grocery store to clean up the mess.
