Can You Find Nicholas?

Nicholas is one of the new barn cats, that just appeared one day. He is a good boy, a little rough around the edges, but that will go away once we get him neutered. Of course, I refuse to pay for another cat to be altered, since I paid for a majority of current cats to get altered, and we fostered five litters of kittens and I have 10 cats in my house as a result of foster failure, so NOPE, I refuse to pay for another one. I hope someone fronts the money soon because the longer we wait the harder it will be for him.

He is about 6-7 months old now and is growing like a weed, but that is because he eats well. All the barn cats eat well. They get dry and moist food at night. The moist food is because some of the cats don’t have many teeth left so we want to make sure that they eat. There are several different generations of cats on the farm. The 10 and older crowd consists of Keith, Abbott, Rose, and Dorothy, then the 4-8 crowd which is just Cosmo, and then the young boy, Nicholas. Over the years the clan has gone down in numbers, with Blanche (Blanche, Dorothy, and Rose were named after “The Golden Girls“) and Tiger being the last two to die or disappear.

Blanche had cancer and like her sister who died before her, she fought it until the very end. Tiger just up and disappeared, she was super friendly and easy to get along with and didn’t venture far from her little area. I miss her as she always greeted me when I came onto the farm. It would not surprise me if she jacked a ride in someone’s car and found herself a nice house to live in or at least a nice quiet neighborhood. I know she got kicked out of our vehicles several times. Batman was a rough-looking long-haired black cat, who didn’t last long out there. He got in a fight with something bigger than him and lost. When he returned after “licking his wounds” he was too infected so the vet euthanized him. Not all cats are barn cats, period.

Before that Nicky just disappeared as did Diablo. Nicky was a stray that just appeared one day, but he looked like he was sick as the last time I saw him, he was really rough-looking and appeared unwell. Since he was feral we couldn’t trap him soon enough to help save his life. Diablo was an orange tom cat that just disappeared and was never seen again.

There have been others, but I just can’t recall their names. But the boarders try to take really good care of them and spoil them, in return, they eat the mice, which keeps the snakes away, except for Cosmo, who was a house cat that got dropped off one day, so he only knows how to hunt grasshoppers, frogs, and lizards.

Below is Nicholas, good luck finding him.
