Rheumatologist Appointment

As of late, I have been having major bouts of rib pain from the costochondritis. The way, I’m walking and holding my torso, is causing me to have muscle pain in my chest, abdominal area, and neck, which is also causing me jaw pain, fun times!

I talked with my doctor and she wants to put me on a different muscle relaxer, which sounds like a good plan, as I’m not entirely sure what in the world my current one was doing for me. I didn’t feel any looser or different at all for that matter. So I tried the new one on Tuesday night, as I try to avoid trying new medications on days that I work onsite, and I telework on Wednesdays. My fear was that my daughter is on the same medication and she claims it knocks her out and makes her like putty, so I was a little worried to take it with my Seroquel.

My plan was on Tuesday to take all my medications like normal and add the new relaxer. Well, I thought that is what I did, and according to the app on my watch, I got 6 hours and 24 minutes of light sleep, 19 minutes of deep sleep, and 14 minutes of REM sleep. Yep, I didn’t sleep at all that night. The light sleep is that I have learned that even if I don’t sleep well, I need to do my best to lay very still so my body can rest as much as possible.

I got up in the morning, just assuming that it was the muscle relaxer that kept me up. When I got to my desk and signed on to work, I went to swap my medication containers around and noticed that inside my container for last night was the tiny little pinkish Seroquel pill. Somehow, I never took it last night, ugh, well that explains why I’m not sleep. But totally negated my experiment. I hate to wait and try again Wednesday night and I had my son pick me up on Thursday so I wouldn’t be behind the wheel in the event I was messed up from the medications. The good thing is that I had no side-effects. The bad thing, my poor cat, tried her ass off Tuesday night to put me asleep. She started on my shoulder (I’m a side sleeper), then I rolled over some and she moved to my back, then to my butt, then my calves, and then to my feet, then back up to above my head, finally giving up and settling at my calves (her second favorite spot, after balancing on the shoulder).

She was so tired in the morning and none too happy with me, poor girl.
