Feeling Good / Comfort Food
We all seem to have a food that is our comfort food, you know the food that gives you comfort, when you are down, when you are under the weather or when you are bored. Me, I seem to have developed a strong craving for chocolate and for French fries. No, not at the same time, most definitely not chocolate-covered French fries, that sounds so gross actually.
When I’m having an off day and things are not feeling good, I start to have cravings for French fries. My all-time favorite is skin on homemade deep fried in olive oil, with the fries from Five Guys coming in a very close second place. I would say that my next favorite would be the steak fries from Red Robin. I love the fact that they are also endless fries at Red Robin. If I’m in a hurry and have a fry craving then it is a quick, well quick is really a relative term here, stop to McDonald’s drive-thru.
Enough about French fries, it is time for chocolate. I’m not a connoisseur of chocolate, but I do know that I like it. I like my M&M’s frozen and I love Dark Chocolate. I do like Ghirardelli very much, they are probably my favorite brand, I like the Milk Chocolate and Dark Chocolate squares the best. Then I would say Hershey’s Milk Chocolate and Special Dark are next on the list. I can stomach a Lindt every now and then, but not all the time.
I have to confess that I have a few comfort drinks as well. I crave a good strong Classic Coke as my first and foremost favorite comfort drink. I know it isn’t good for me, but regardless I like it. My next go-to drink would be a very rich homemade chocolate milk. With chocolate milk being my second choice, then my third favorite would be a nice bourbon and Coke. And then there are always Ice Cream and Milk Shakes.
Yeah, I know I shouldn’t drink anything alcoholic in nature with some of the medications that I’m taking. And to be 100% honest, I very rarely (maybe one single drink every few months) have a stiff drink, but it is nice to curl up at the end of a night and sip on a nice glass of bourbon and Coke. Currently, my favorite bourbon is Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage.
i think we all have our comfort foods. mine is m&ms, pepsi and anything pasta.
Give me chocolate, anytime any place and I’m good. That is probably my most favorite comfort food. But of course chocolate really messes with my migraines.
Blessings
Give me a nice Kentucky Bourbon any day of the week. I used to really love that stuff before I had to give it all up.
Damn, I was hoping to have a toast together sometime.
