Cut Out The Negativity

Cut the negativity out of your life (in person and virtually) a good resource is How to stop being negative.

I started by cutting my online social media time. I was finding myself getting way too deep into Facebook and not really hanging in a positive way with my friends, but most of the time arguing with or against them about a particular topic. I was finding that it wasn’t helping me think in a positive manner.  At the same time, I pared down my friend list, removing those people that are always negative and those that do not bring me joy communicating with them. I really took a look at each person and unfriended some, blocked others, and stopped following some as well.

I then cut down my interactions with my co-workers that I found to be negative.

Then I cut down my interactions with friends and family that I found to be too negative. In fact, I actually lost a good friend who was doing this very thing, they cut their interactions with me, because, dare I say it, I was too negative for them. I hope someday to repair that severed connection, but right now we both need to find ourselves and then have time to heal.

Then came the drama, I cut out as much of the drama from my life as possible. I made a list of the most drama-filled things in my life and I either removed myself from those people and places or I cut down my interactions.

Then I deleted apps from my phone that interfered with my emotional well-being.

I greatly reduced the negative television, first was the news. I cut down television news entirely and then I carefully selected online news sources. As for negative television, I reduced the number of negative shows, political shows, and shows that don’t agree with my views on life. The end result I’m actually happier and I’m loving it.

Then came the all-time most difficult negativity to cut out and that was me, I had to learn to stop being so negative myself and that is taking some work. But I’m actually getting there. I had to learn to not be so hard on myself and to stop taking on more than I can chew and allow myself to have a lazy day.

Basically, I’m learning to just let the water run off the duck’s back so to speak.
