Sergeant Johanny Rosario Pichardo
Marine Corps Sergeant Johanny Rosario Pichardo, 25, was from Lawrence, Massachusetts, attached to the 5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Naval Support Activity Bahrain, serving as a supply chief. She joined the Marine Corps when she was 18 years old and had been in the Corps for 6 1/2 years.
She was a graduate of Lawrence High School and attended Bridgewater State University.
Johanny was a member of the Female Engagement Team (FET), whose function was to interact with women barred by custom from talking to male strangers. She was screening women and children at the Abbey gate when the attack took place.
She is survived by her mother and sister.
