Lance Corporal Dylan R. Merola

Marine Corps LCpl Dylan Merola, 20, was from Rancho Cucamonga, California, attached to 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, based in Camp Pendleton, California. Dylan was just a week into his first deployment to Afghanistan.

He was a graduate of Los Osos High School, Rancho Cucamonga, graduating in 2019.

Dylan was an outdoorsman and loved to hike, fish, kayak and spend time with his family and friends.

He joined the Marines because he wanted to make a difference and planned to study engineering in college after his military service.
