Another Side of Cyberbullying

Some are just trolls, hiding behind the anonymity of their keyboard and internet connection. Others spend their time trying to get you to spend time, having an exchange with them. While others take it to the next level. They start to find out information about the creators that the creators don’t really want to know. I have been able to quickly find the real identity of many creators, but I always redact any information that isn’t common knowledge. I certainly don’t want all of my details being spread out on the internet. I’m not worried about myself, I’m worried more about my family. If they want to screw with me, I say bring it, I have had to deal with a ton of bullshit in my life and that would just add to the pile.

I’m not sure what motivates these internet trolls to do what they do. I assume that they find it fun. In the case of the couple below who were trolled, things got way out of control.

This is a very interesting story about a couple (Alyssa and Jesse {{lastname redacted}}) who started a YouTube channel (Pure Living for Life) to show their journey toward self-sufficiency. They shared their experiences and knowledge about sustainable living, homesteading, and DIY projects. Alyssa played an essential role in designing and decorating their off-grid home, while Jesse took charge of construction and maintenance tasks.

They started making videos in 2016 and over the past eight years, they gained over 500,000 users and released over 700 YouTube videos.

Then cyber stalkers started to bully them, they found out who they were and where they lived and stalked them and things got worse. People started to visit their home sites and started giving them death threats. Here is their video about being bullied.

The really sad thing is that this isn’t an isolated incident. Many popular YouTube creators have experienced similar issues, including being doxxed, stalked, and harrassed. And all this behavior is illegal and can end up with jail time.

The problem isn’t just someone being bullied, for most of the creators, YouTube is their only source of income, meaning they went all in and are 100% focused on YouTube and made YouTube their full-time job. Besides money, some of these creators are being physically threatened as well.
