VA Benfits - Mesothelioma
If you are a veteran with mesothelioma, then you need to file a disability claim with the Veterans Administration (VA). I highly recommend that you contact a lawyer to help with this claim. If you were injured or have an illness that was caused or was made worse while you were in service, then you may have a claim. The key here is that the injury or illness is service-connected. If you have a service-connected disability and a discharge that was not dishonorable, then you likely have a claim.
The VA claims process can be difficult and convoluted. The VA website can be difficult to navigate and find what you are looking for. There certainly, is not a published step-by-step process. And this is where the lawyer comes into play. If you have a standard claim, then I recommend that you contact the VFW and see if they will assist you with your paperwork. You likely need a lawyer if you have a major illness like mesothelioma.
Far too many veterans are currently suffering from mesothelioma, rare cancer caused by exposure to asbestos that takes 20-50 years to develop. Getting compensation for this disability is often a difficult process for veterans as well with many pitfalls and things that can cause their claim to be wrongfully denied. That’s why the Lanier Law Firm made a guide on everything veterans need to know about the VA claims process.
Disclaimer: I have not been paid to recommend the Lanier Law Firm. They contacted me and asked me if I would be interested in putting a link on my website. There are other Law Firms that offer the same type of service.

Welcome to the Average Joe Weekly blog. This is basically my place on the web where I can help spread some of the knowledge that I have accumulated over the years. I served 10+ years in the Marine Corps on Active Duty, but that was some 25 years ago.
