The First Female Recon Marine

It’s not recent news, but I still want to talk briefly about the Corps’ first female recon Marine. On November 7th, 2019, LCpl Alexa Barth became the first Marine to pass the Basic Reconnaissance Course and earned the 0321 reconnaissance Marine military occupational specialty.

Since her passing the course, she continued her training and today she is not only a Sgt of Marines, she is a Recon Marine and is her team’s sniper, route planner, and point man.

Welcome to the Average Joe Weekly blog. This is basically my place on the web where I can help spread some of the knowledge that I have accumulated over the years. I served 10+ years in the Marine Corps on Active Duty, but that was some 25 years ago.
