Sailor of the Year 2021 - Commander Niels Olson
When the carrier Theodore Roosevelt arrived in Guam full of sick sailors, Cmdr. Niels Olson helped handle the COVID-19 crisis aboard ship – and the work he did helped change how the Navy dealt with the virus. “Failure is always an option,” is a motto he lives by, and something that drove him to help beat back the pandemic.
