Hitting The Drill Instructor

I have seen this very question posted a hundred or more times online, all from some cocky little fucker who thinks he is the shit and is going to deck a drill instructor at Marine Corps boot camp.

The story goes something like this. Some asshat who thinks he is special thinks he is a real tough guy, he thinks he is a super badass and is going to go to Marine Corps boot camp and then he is planning on decking one of the drill instructors.

Now, this has happened before, either premeditated or not, but it has never ended well for the “tough guy”.

First, let me state, he might get lucky and hit the drill instructor, but I guarantee that it will be the dumbest thing this asshat has ever done. Now, I can promise you that if he gets lucky and caught the DI off guard and connects his blow, the DI and all the other Marines around him will instantly make this asshat wish he wasn’t ever born. And that is just the physical or verbal part of all this, assuming that tempers flare.

This will also land this asshat in some major hot water, to include time in the brig. So this is assault, which is covered under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) under Article 128.

This recruit will suddenly disappear, meaning that the military police will come and they will take him out in cuffs and he will disappear into a black hole.

So striking a drill instructor is a major breach of the discipline and is highly illegal. You can guarantee that NCIS will be in the barracks, interviewing recruits and drill instructors and serious repercussions will happen to the recruit that committed the offense.

The recruit will very likely face a court-martial and be discharged from the Marine Corps, but not before potential time in the brig (jail), which would be decided during the court-martial hearing.

Also, none of this takes into consideration that you signed up to join the Marine Corps under false pretenses, just so you can prove a point and end up in jail or worse.
