...And a Few Good Men

This movie is not to be confused with ‘A Few Good Men’ starring Tom Cruise and Demi Moore. This is a United Marine Corps documentary, narrated by Jack Webb (“Dragnet”, “The D.I.”) and follows recruits through boot camp at MCRD San Diego, in the early ’70s. This movie is more in line with what the Marine Corps will show the parents of a recruit as it is a very neutered look into recruit training.

Notable Quotes

Jack Webb (Narrates): It is hard to say exactly what goes into making a Marine, or a man for that matter
But whatever it is, there are two basic elements you always have to have
One is good material and the other is the right environment
If the Marine Corps is come to be known for the caliber of men it turns out, it’s largely the value that the Corps places on both these requirements

My Take On The Flick
Though I went through boot camp in the late ’80s this movie really brings back many movies as much of the training at MCRD hasn’t changed. Being a documentary, there isn’t much that I can point out as being inaccurate. This is a great 25-minute documentary and worth the watch.

My observations
With each movie, I will detail the military (more specifically the Marine Corps) things that I notice were inaccurate or just wrong.

As this was a documentary, everything was accurate and authentic
