My Hens Were Harassing By A Little Trash Panda

Damn little trash panda (raccoon) is trying to get himself some chicken nuggets (my hens) for lunch.

It was a nice Saturday afternoon and I’m working on my computer like most weekends and she screams for me to come quick. I drop what I’m doing and run out to the kitchen and she points out the back window towards the chicken coop in the backyard. I look and there is this trash panda, aka raccoon climbing up the side of our coop, trying to get into the coop. I opened the back door grabbed a trash can lid and snuck out to the coop it was a very young raccoon hanging on the side of the coop, not sure what to do or how to do it.

It was actually kind of funny because when I was face to face with him, he was so scared and you could see it in his eyes. He just froze and was thinking, if I stayed really still, he might not see me. It took me a few pushes with the trash can lid to get him to move and jump down from the side of the coop. I chased it off the side of the coop and he ran to a nearby tree and ran up as high as he could. This poor little thing was shaking, he was visibly scared for its life.

So, now I’m like, it’s ok, I’m not going to kill you, but also saying, stay the fuck away from my hens, thank you.  I do have to say that he was pretty cute. The good news is that he hasn’t returned and it has been about 3-4 weeks now.

If you don’t know, raccoons, are extremely violent towards chickens and will rip the head off of a chicken and leave most of the carcass. And as these are not just for eggs, they are somewhat pets, I would hate for that to happen to them.

Cute Little Raccoon, but he was messing with my hens
