ZZ Top - RAW

New music is due out later this year (July 22) from ZZ-Top. The new album is going to be titled, RAW: ‘That Little Ol’ Band From Texas’ Original Soundtrack and it will feature Dusty Hill, who passed away last July. According to the band, Dusty has already recorded the bass and vocals for this new album, before he passed. Dusty has been replaced with his longtime guitar tech Elwood Francis, which was Dusty’s wish. Up until Dusty’s passing, the lineup for the band had been unchanged for 51 years, when both Dusty Hill and Frank Beard joined the band, replacing Lanier Greig on bass and Dan Mitchell on drums.

The album consists of 11 tracks that were recorded in connection with the 2019 Netflix documentary about the band, titled “That Little Ol’ Band From Texas”.

It will include tracks; “La Grange,” “Tush” and “Gimme All Your Lovin'” and several tracks from their first album. It is reported that the band completed the recording of this album in one day at Gruene Hall, the “oldest continually run dance hall in Texas”. The new album will be dedicated “in righteous memory of Dusty Hill”.

The band (including Elwood) will hit the road this summer on their “Raw Whisky” North American tour, starting May 6th, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and running through Aug. 27 in Beaver Dam, KY
