Skindred Is Rocking Hardcore

Skindred is not a new band, but they are fairly new to me. I have heard some of their music before but didn’t know the name. They are a Welsh heavy metal band and have been around since 1998, well sort of, but more on that in a minute. I just finished watching the “Gimme That Boom” video and I love how animated Benji Webbe is. I think it is because I can relate to him. We have a 56-year-old man, up there, just having a great time and I just love that. I also love their overall sound.

Their musical style mixes heavy metal, alternative rock, and a tiny bit of ragga mixed in for good measure. The band also integrates elements of punk rock, hardcore punk, reggae, dancehall, jungle, ska, hip hop, drum and bass, dubstep, and various other influences into their music.

In 1998, Benji and some friends started a band called Dub War, which disbanded less than a year later. Benji tried to form a new band with the same members, however, that effort failed, and in 2002, Skindred released their first album called Babylon. So technically 2002 is the birthdate of Skindred.
