Jelly Roll - Jason DeFord

Jelly Roll (Jason DeFord) has been around for a long time (2012) but is extremely underrated. His music covers a wide range of genres, from Hip-hop, country rap, country rock, country, and southern hip-hop. To date, Jelly Roll has released 18 Studio Albums, two EPs, and five mixtapes. If you listen to country music, you likely have heard Jelly Roll and didn’t even know it. His “Son of A Sinner” single, placed #1 on the US Country Airplay chart.

In his earlier days, Jason was in and out of prison (drugs and robbery) for many years and credits his oldest daughter (Bailee) as being responsible for changing his life. In 2022, Jelly Roll told Taste of Country: “She’s now 14, and I knew I had to change my life.

In fact, Jason was already in prison at the age of 14, for theft charges, at age 18 he spent two more years in prison for armed robbery. Jason is open about his past and used that often in his music.

“I started selling CDs out of the trunk of my car and T-shirts and throwing local concerts and doing anything I could to not revert back to a life of crime to provide for her.”

Don’t let Jason’s choice of tattoo art, scare you away, the person is really a very nice guy, who had a rough past. Jason is married to Bunnie Xo (Blogger and YouTuber). And they have two children (from Jason’s previous marriage).

Jelly Roll is an American performer and songwriter known for his collaborations with Lil Wyte, Struggle Jennings, Yelawolf, Tech N9ne, and Ryan Upchurch.

Jelly Roll just won three, CMT Music Awards this year (2023), the CMT Music Award for Male Video of the Year, the CMT Music Award for CMT Digital-First Performance; and the CMT Music Award for Breakthrough Male Video for “Son of a Sinner“.

Welcome to the Average Joe Weekly blog. This is basically my place on the web where I can help spread some of the knowledge that I have accumulated over the years. I served 10+ years in the Marine Corps on Active Duty, but that was some 25 years ago.
