Virginia 4th congressional district Representative Donald McEachin (D) proposed to sponsor a revitalization of a Bill that died in a previous Congress (2021). This bill is to amend title XXVII of the Public Health Service Act to apply additional payments, discounts, and other financial assistance towards the cost-sharing requirements of health insurance plans, and for other purposes.

This bill requires health insurance plans to apply certain payments made by, or on behalf of, a plan enrollee toward a plan’s cost-sharing requirements. Specifically, plans must apply third-party payments, financial assistance, discounts, product vouchers, and other reductions in out-of-pocket expenses toward the requirements.

As of today, there has not been a roll call vote related to this bill, and sadly looks like it will once again die on the hill.

Even more sad is the fact that it has been in Congress and Senate before
