Happy Star Wars Day - May 4th
May 4th has been designated by Star Wars fans as Star Wars day. “May 4th” = “May the Force” be with you.
The exact history of the day isn’t formally documented, but ironically it is believed that former UK prime minister Margaret Thatcher may have been the inspiration for the day. On May 4th, 1979 a writer for The London Evening News, wrote a clever line to share his well-wishes to the PM. “May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie. Congratulations,” he wrote.
After the release of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith in 2005, a newspaper ad sporting Yoda, a background of red-white-and-blue fireworks, and “May the Fourth Be With You” was created as a marketing tool to get audiences back in movie theatres.
