Jinkies! Velma is Gay - Scooby Doo

I know that comes as such a huge surprise to everyone, lol, but here we go!

I’m getting tired of the media in all forms, pandering to groups so they can look like they care, all in the game of selling products and making money. In this case, they are pandering to the LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, and more – don’t ask, I don’t know, I had to look it up) crowd. I’m not knocking you, I just don’t know and I don’t understand, but trust Google knew the answer and enlightened me a little.

In the new animated movie “Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!”, Velma Dinkley is officially a lesbian. Okay, who gives a shit, it has been suspected that she was gay from day one, but as a little kid growing up in the 70s and 80s, I didn’t care about sexual orientation or sexual preferences. But in an attempt to show that they are progressive, which means that they are “woke”, which translates to ticket sales and advertising sales, which means big money, they do bullshit like this and let the Internet spread the word and drive up sales. If you think for a second that they are sympathetic to your cause, think again, it is all about the Benjamins Baby!

In an article from Variety, the scriptwriter James Gunn, said that clear back in 2001, “In 2001 Velma was explicitly gay in my initial script,” he wrote. “But the studio just kept watering it down & watering it down…”

Now personally, I don’t give a shit, but why haven’t they come and about ascot tie-wearing Fred? Or Scooby and Shaggy being stoners? I mean if you are going for broke, then go all the damn way.

Ironically, in an original cut of the 2002 movie “Scooby-Doo”, Fred Jones was openly gay as well. In 2002, homosexuality was still very much hidden, thus the movie was more adult-oriented, than kid friendly. When they tested the parents flipped their lids and Warners got scarred, and the script was rewritten. But Freddie Prinze Jr. did add little hints that maybe he was gay, but not open about it.
