Swinging a Hammer

The Pallet ShelterSince we have two miniature horses, they should be “dry-lotted” during the summer, we had a dry lot, but no shelter, so we set out to build a small shelter for our miniature horses. We choose wooden pallets as our building material trying to keep the price low mostly as we are field boarding our horses and I don’t want any long-term structure. The only problem we had was me and my fatigue issues. About two hours into the project and I was done and I mean done. But we still needed to get the roof on it, so I do what any good Marine does and I sucked it up and just pushed through it when it came to swinging the hammer I realized that I can’t just push through things like this. I was losing my grip and I was missing the head of the nail. I mean one in every four swings landed on target. I was afraid that the hammer would go flying if I wasn’t careful and I didn’t want to hit one of my family members with the hammer.

I managed to power through it without major incident, and the shelter is completed and the miniature horses are happy with it, but boy am I sore, my hands and arms are killing me and my Gabapentin isn’t working for me.

Your horse shelter looks great, you really need to share some pictures of the horses.

  2. Fatigue is probably the biggest problem that I have in my life, that and depression. The mini-shelter looks nice.
Are you planning on painting it?

    1. I would have to agree with you on that. As for painting it, I really didn’t have any plans, but the wife and daughter want to paint it, so I guess we will be painting it. It is actually a good idea as that will help with weather-proofing it more.
      BTW, Happy Birthday

I’m going to reserve my comments since I work construction. But I get it and it is functional.

That is cute, but you haven’t shared any photos of your miniature horses, we want to see them too.
