Withdrawal From Tramadol
Being on medication has its ups and downs, and one of the major downs is when you stop taking a medication. I was on Tramadol, which is a synthetic opioid that is used to manage pain. I had been on it for about two years, for pain related to my Costochondritis. I was taking 100mg several times a day as prescribed.
I wanted to get off of it because I didn’t like how it and many other pain relievers were making me feel.
This post is about the withdrawal issues that I encountered when I stopped taking it. I quit cold turkey and I started to suffer from increased depression and I noticed that I was crying often. This lasted for about 20 days or so. I was unsure of myself and I’m usually that guy that is positive that he can do something, regardless of how difficult it is. I even started to look for a new job, because I was convinced that my employer was against me and wanted me gone. And to speak of gone, I closed my eyes and I would see a gun, I would see it being fired and it was being fired at me by me. These were things that I don’t normally experience and to be 100% honest they were extremely scary.
I’m glad that all that is behind me. I hope I don’t have to take that medication again or at least to the extent that I was taking it.
