Tooth Extraction #2

This past Friday, I had my second tooth extraction as a result of my RA and Fibro and, the associated medications. Many of us that suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis and/or Fibromyalgia often have the lovely side effect of rotting teeth. As my dentist had once told me, there isn’t much that can be done about it. You have a choice, pain-free or teeth, I choose pain-free and she actually told me that it was the right choice in her book.

In the long run, I can expect many of my teeth to either need to be pulled or be crowned. Currently, I have 2 extracted, 10 crowned, and 6 filled.

Plus I have four that are eroding and will need to be filled like a cavity. Basically, they are a mess.

The oral surgeon that pulled the tooth, told me that actually, my teeth look pretty good for my age and my illnesses. He has a family member who has been dealing with Fibro for a very long time, so he is well aware of the game. He said that my gums look good and to keep up the good work.

My actual dentist has prescribed me a prescription dental rinse, PreviDent 5000, to help with the dry mouth caused by the medications and my Sjögren’s syndrome (which caused dry mouth and eyes as it’s main symptom).

If you are playing this same game, I wish you luck and stay motivated, you got this!!!d
