The Cyclic Effect

My symptoms prior to being on Cymbalta and Gabapentin would run in a cycle of some sort. Basically, every few months my symptoms would really ramp up and be out of control. Things have calmed down under the meds, but I have noticed that even prior to the Cymbalta I would have periods ever so often of a few days where the Gabapentin wasn’t touching the pain and it would really get to me, then after a few days, things got back to “normal”. When I talked to my neurologist about it, he wanted me to try Cymbalta as it had a really good track record for fighting nerve pain.

Well this past week, I had two full days where neither the Gabapentin nor the Cymbalta was helping me out with the pain. That really proved to me that the Cymbalta wasn’t doing crap for me. So I have talked with my neurologist and we are going to step me down off of Cymbalta. officially.

It sounds very familiar to me, I had very similar results when I was taking Cymbalta.
