In Concert With Pain

This past week my wife, daughter, and I went to see a concert in Northern Virginia. We arrived around 7 p.m. and the main attraction, Rascal Flatts, started at 9:30. I haven’t been to a concert in years and we had really good seats, up close to the stage. Besides the long trip from the car, as we had to park practically in another State (BTW, long walks don’t bother me, not at all actually, probably since I love to hike). What bothered me was the sitting and standing the entire time. I could handle the sitting much better than the standing. I sit all day at work and I can adjust, and slouch or stretch my legs out if needed. But when Rascal Flatts came on stage, everyone stood to watch the concern and that really started to get painful after a short while I found myself having to keep adjusting my stance and having to arch my back and move my legs to keep them from tightening up. I even found myself having to sit back down to rest.

What had happened? When I was 16 my first job required me to stand all day long, in fact, not until I was about 30 did I actually get a desk-type job, but even then and still today, I’m on my feet more than I’m sitting, so it really shocked me that I couldn’t get comfortable standing for a few hours at a concert.

Needless to say, the concern was great, but the pain level was rocking as well.
