Uber Duck Text To Speech

This month’s website is pretty cool and actually useful. It takes the text that you type in and converts it to speech. But it does it with a twist, You can select from 2,000 different voices. I played with some and the voices for actors and actresses aren’t that great, and that is because they are impersonators, and then they are synthesized, and that just doesn’t mix too well. When you add in that converting text to speech is difficult on words that are inflected or said a certain way, it just doesn’t sound right at all. They sound too mechanical and that annunciation is way off.

But selecting any of the random cartoon character voices actually sounds pretty good.

I did find a funny ass glitch, I did Gru from the Minions and it is funny, I’m not sure what all that is, but it is rather hilarious. I called them Drunk Gru. It looks like if you put a few different punctuations behind the text, some cartoon characters get drunk.

I can see it has some application in the real world and is a ton of fun for all of us ’70s and ’80s kids who made their Speak and Spell say curse. However, we did get a ton of great endorsements from some pretty influential people.

Samuel L Jackson
Not very good, but I thought it was funny how he said it.

Wilford Brimley
One of my all-time favorite actors, when he was alive

Patrick Stewart
Sir Patrick sounds like he is in the hospital on his deathbed, lol

Alvin and the Chipmunks – Simon
Sounds nothing like Simon, sounds more like he has a sinus infection and I have no clue what he said at the end, it wasn’t something I typed in.

Walter White – Breaking Bad
Alright, it does sound a little like Walter, but the annunciation is totally off base, lol

Gru – Minions
Gru was the best, for some reason it wanted to add something to the end of it, and this made it sound like Gru was drunk. It does however sound a little like Gru, the first one sounds like he is passing out at the end. The second one he had way too much to drink and couldn’t get a word out if he tried.

Dexter – Dexter’s Laboratory
It sounds a little like Dexter, but I have not one clue what he is saying.

Chris Griffin from The Family Guy
Sounds a little like Chris, but he forgot its damn lines, he is supposed to say “Average Joe Weekly is the best blog on the web”

Herbert The Pervert from The Family Guy
It sounds like Herbert, but not enough lisp.

Peter Griffin from The Family Guy
Not too bad, thank you, Peter, for your endorsement

Stewie Griffin from The Family Guy
Doesn’t sound much like Stewie, but I appreciate the effort

Mr. Fred Rogers
Man, I grew up watching Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood and I greatly appreciate your comments

Sheldon Cooper
Sounds a little like Sheldon, but I rather have an endorsement from Penny

Bart Simpson from The Simpsons
Sounds like a very young Bart

Clancy Wiggum from The Simpsons
Not too bad and thank you, here is a donut.

Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons
Thank you Comic Book Guy, I wonder what your real name is?

Homer J. Simpson from The Simpsons
The Annunciation is spot on but sounds too computerized

Lisa Simpson from The Simpsons
Thank you, Lisa, I appreciate your insight and endorsement of my blog.

Marge Simpson from The Simpsons
This one is pretty damn close, Thank you, Marge, I’m so sorry that you have to put up with Homer and Bart.

Very Drunk Barney Gumble from The Simpsons
We all know that Barney is also drunk, but damn Barney, you could have at least said your lines, you damn drunk

Joe Swanson from The Simpsons
The voice is very close, but the annunciation is off.

Donald Duck
Not too shabby and thank you Donald for your wonderful support

It is a fun little website, but nothing really useful.

Welcome to the Average Joe Weekly blog. This is basically my place on the web where I can help spread some of the knowledge that I have accumulated over the years. I served 10+ years in the Marine Corps on Active Duty, but that was some 25 years ago.
