System Administrator Appreciation Day

“System Administrator Appreciation Day” is on the last Friday of July and celebrates the individuals who are working around the clock (often behind the scenes) in order to keep our virtual world running. System Administrators are people who take care of installing and troubleshooting anything and everything related to Information Technology (IT).

This day is near and dear to my heart as I have been working as a Systems administrator for over 35 years with 20 of those years, for the Federal Government.

I have worked around the clock multiple times without sleep in order to keep things up and running. I however am a little different, because I firmly believe if there are boots on the group (Troops in Combat) then I can work around the clock as needed, it is the least I can do. Because I rose my hand to Support and Defend the Constitution long ago and that oath, doesn’t expire.

Welcome to the Average Joe Weekly blog. This is basically my place on the web where I can help spread some of the knowledge that I have accumulated over the years. I served 10+ years in the Marine Corps on Active Duty, but that was some 25 years ago.
