Things I Noticed

  1. He wouldn’t be wearing his multi-awards for his rifle and pistol while in Charlies
  2. He is wearing 4 across instead of three across as per regulation. You can wear four across if they are going to be covered by the collar
  3. He had a Good Conduct which meant he is a mustang
  4. His Navy-Marine Corps Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon is upside down

Interesting Fact: While doing research for this, I stumbled upon the ribbon that Brian Keith is wearing, which is in the second row on the right. I couldn’t find it anywhere. It turns out that it is the Vietnam Navy Distinguished Service Order, 2nd Class. Here is a small, but informative article about it. It is a ribbon/medal we just don’t see anymore today.  It is actually a rare one to receive as it was for heroism, the only reason it is so low in the order of precedence is that it was issued by a foreign government. The Colonel would have received his when he was enlisted.

Things I Noticed

  1. He wouldn’t be wearing his multi-awards for his rifle and pistol while in Charlies
  2. He is wearing 4 across instead of three across as per regulation. You can wear four across if they are going to be covered by the collar
  3. His ribbons are out of order
  4. Interesting he has no Combat Action, but he has purple hearts and other ribbons that would suggest he has been in combat
  5. Later in the movie when he and the Colonel are in Jemal in the Ambassador Virgil Morgan’s office, they are wearing Deltas, and I guess that the good Gunny isn’t as good as he loses two stars on his Good Conduct and gains a star on his Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon. The Colonel’s ribbons are the same as before.

Sasha Mitchell as Lcpl Dino Ruggieri

No Ribbons
Marksman Rifle

Things I Noticed

  1. His Charlies look like a bag of shit
  2. “Kids will tell you anything for some pogey”, it should be “pogey bait”, but that is close enough I guess
