Russia is Pissing Me Off

I don’t care whose side you are on, but it really pisses me off that Russia is doing this. Civilians are supposed to be off limits and not only are they holding them, hostage, but they are also going and burning and destroying apartment buildings and homes.

I don’t care if you are for Russia or for Ukraine, this is against the laws of war and I don’t understand why the rest of the world is sitting idly by and not doing anything about it.

The world powers and protectors have always stepped in when there is something like this going on, but not this time. Everyone seems to be afraid of Russia for some reason.

I know growing up, the US was always scared of Russia, but it has been proven that they are not the Superpower that they always claimed to be.

But back to the war against humanity. Why is this happening? We aren’t talking about one or two buildings, this is entire neighborhoods, entire cities, being destroyed, building by building, systematically and in record time.

I’m honestly shocked by all this. And this is nothing more than a land grab or an attempt at a land grab. Before 1991, there was the Soviet Union (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics or USSR). This was a union of national republics, governed by the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, with Moscow as its capital within its largest and most populous republic, the Russian SFSR. In 1991, the USSR had completely collapsed into separate countries of Lithuania, Georgia, Estonia, Latvia, Ukraine, Transnistria, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Chechnya, Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan.

Ukraine and Russia are two countries that border each other in Eastern Europe. On Feb. 24, 2022, Putin again claimed that Ukrainians and Russians are one people. He sees Ukrainians and Russians as brother nations and says that because Russia is the older brother, it should get to be in charge. This resulted in Russia sending its army into Ukraine and began trying to take over the country by force. But what caused all this? Depending on who’s side you take will change the narrative some. But ultimately, Ukraine wanted to join The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and Russia wasn’t happy with that idea. If accepted into NATO, Ukraine would be afforded protection (among other things) NATO. President of Russia Vladimir Putin was upset that prior to the collapse of the Soviet Union, NATO had promised back in 1990 to then Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, that they would not expand “not an inch to the east”.

Russia takes this military alliance with NATO (which means the U.S. and Europe) as a threat to Russia. So in 2014, Russia took over an area in southern Ukraine called Crimea. It also sent soldiers and weapons to eastern Ukraine, claiming to be helping people who wanted to be part of Russia. In the eight years since then, about 14,000 people have died (3,000 civilians), and 1 million people have fled to escape the fighting.

Most Ukrainians disagree that Russia should control Ukraine. They have been inspired by the words of their president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He told Putin that Ukrainians want peace, but that if they need to, they will defend their country’s independence.

Putin invaded, and this time his plan is to take over the entire country. Ukrainians are now fighting the Russian army, trying to defeat what they say is an occupation.

But seriously why in the hell are you destroying everything in your wake? That is wrong on so many levels.
