The Current Average Dog

Our current Average Family dog Roxie, is another rescue, from one of the local shelters. After our previous dog crossed over the rainbow bridge, my wife and I found the house too quiet as we have always had a dog in the house.

After some searching, one of our friends at the shelter told us about a litter of pitty pups that they just got in. Off to the shelter and Roxie picked us as her new family and the rest is history.

Like most puppies, she was a little rough around the edges, but some training got her where she needed to be. The only issue that we can’t seem to resolve, is that we wanted a smaller Pitbull so we could travel easier, and a smaller dog would be easier on us when we stop for the night. We are nearing retirement age and we wanted to be able to travel and take her with us. The problem is that she gets car sick within seconds of getting into the car.

She loves to run and jump, she loves to jump so much that her nickname is “Roo”, short for Kangaroo. Unrelated to her jumping, she had to have double knee surgery when she was under 3 years old, to repair the groove in her knee joint. The vet said that she barely had a groove at all. The sad part is that she hasn’t fully recovered from the surgery and often has pain in her right knee.

Overall, she is a wonderful dog and loves to cuddle up at night on the couch with her people, (right where she belongs).
